Personal Profile
After graduating from City of Glasgow College with a HND in 3D Design: ‘Model Making for the Creative Industries’ I decided to continue my studies at Arts University Bournemouth to gain even more experience and to make more connections within the model making industry. I am now in my final year and due to graduate in June 2018. Throughout both of my model making courses I have been able to build experience quickly, adapting to different working environments, aided by my ability to pick up new skills easily.
Freelance Work
Amalgam Models, Bristol

4 weeks during Summer 2017

I was invited back to Amalgam after a successful placement to work on a live project which largely involved carving polystyrene, layering jesmonite, idenden and paint finishing.
Work Experience
Foster and Partners, London

4 weeks during Summer 2016

During my time at Foster and Partners I learned a lot of new techniques. Being in a team with experienced architectural model makers was a great opportunity. I did a lot of sanding, expanded my knowledge of laser cutting and started learning Rhino.
Make Architects, London

2 weeks during Easter 2017

While at Make I spent the majority of my time making trees out of a type of seaweed, spraying it with PVA and water and sprinkling it with flock. I also made off-site buildings out of foam.
Amalgam Models, Bristol

2 weeks during Summer 2017

I learned so many different skills and techniques while on work experience at Amalgam. As I had not been hired in for a particular project I was allowed to float about and lend a hand wherever needed. This led to me getting to sandblast brass, prepare parts to be moulded, clean up casts, do small laser cutting jobs for projects, refresh my 2D AutoCAD skills and help life cast a hand.
Paragon Creative, York

1 week during Summer 2017

I was given the task of transforming a decapitated Viking head into a Zombie to be used in the Walking Dead Horror Maze at Thorpe Park. I used a 2 part epoxy putty to sculpt onto the head and added some latex parts for additional gore. I learned a great deal about layering up paint to achieve a realistic skin finish.
